Opportunities to find passion and purpose
Our Perth College co-curricular program offers so many opportunities for girls to pursue specialist interests across sport, technology, performing arts, and community service.
Sport
Perth College is part of the IGSSA (Independent Girls’ Schools’ Sports Association) competition, with students selected on merit, House carnival results or trials to take part in weekly sporting fixtures throughout the year. Sports in the IGSSA calendar include swimming, tennis, volleyball, cross country, netball, hockey, rowing, soccer, basketball, athletics, water polo and netball.
Perth College also caters for the physical wellbeing of its students with a range of options available outside of the IGSSA competition. Girls can sign up to join our gym, which is available for use most mornings and afternoons throughout the year. There is also our 100 Club, where students are encouraged to run for enjoyment, build aerobic fitness and make new friends. Or Fitness Club, where we develop various aspects of fitness through circuit training, resistance exercises and boxing.
We are also progressive in our sporting program, providing opportunities for girls in the areas of AFL (football) and cricket. Elite athletes are well supported by the Physical Education department and the School’s pastoral care and academic staff.
Music
Students who love music can participate in choirs, concert bands, orchestras, jazz bands, chamber groups, solo performances and music theatre at school. Perth College Music is an inclusive school music program and caters for all talents and styles. Our musical partnerships with Aquinas College, WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and Westminster Abbey also provide students with a richer experience. Interstate and overseas tours take place regularly and provide a fantastic learning opportunity for students, staff and parents. One such tour is the biennial Sisters of the Church Music Festival which celebrates the common heritage shared between Perth College and five other schools throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Students are taught by highly qualified instrumental and vocal teachers, many of whom are either current or past members of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra or Perth Symphony Orchestra or are professional musicians outside of the School environment. Perth College Music Staff enjoy strong links with both UWA and WAAPA and are able to provide meaningful guidance to students assessing their tertiary options.

Performing Arts
Our co-curricular Dance/Drama program is open to all students in Years 7 to 12, regardless of whether they are studying a subject in these course areas. The girls can become involved in major annual dance, drama and music productions, either on stage or behind the scenes, assisting with costumes, make-up, technical production and ushering. We are home to ‘PC Dance’, a program hosted on Saturday mornings for girls and boys aged four to 20.
Clubs
We offer a range of clubs for students in Years 7 to 12 before and after school as well as during lunchtimes. Options include equestrian, photography, debating, community service and more.
Camps And Adventure Learning
Years 7 to 10 have an annual camp where the girls immerse themselves in a bush setting and learn important life skills such as teamwork, ingenuity, meal planning and leadership. The Year 9 and 10 camps are much longer than typical school camps, creating a lightbulb moment where the girls challenge themselves, needing to work collaboratively and draw on each other’s strengths.
Service Learning
Perth College has always encouraged its students to give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of others.
Our girls assist at the Church and with community events such as the annual Lifeline luncheon, Anglicare winter and Christmas appeals, and the Hyde Park Fair. Our Student Representative Council also helps to generate funds and raise awareness for charities via school and community-based events.
Perth College offers a range of social justice programs for Senior School Girls, from experiential learning opportunities in the Solomon Islands or Cambodia working with those less fortunate, to helping in the local community.
