A ‘Culture of Giving’ has always been evident in the Perth College community and dates back to 1915 when generous donations from benefactors, William Loton and Septimus Burt, enabled Perth College’s founding sisters to purchase the property where our school stands today.
Over 100 years on Perth College can be proud of the significant contributions our parents, students, Old Girls and wider community have made through their financial support. The communities’ generosity has resulted in the construction of our Judith Cottier Theatre, the Gymnasium, Jean Rogerson Science Centre, and Founders Centre for Early Learning and the fit-out of Excelsior House.
In addition, scholarships have always been an important focus and through the continued generosity of our donors we have been able to offer numerous girls valuable scholarships over the years, giving them opportunities which may not have otherwise been possible.

About the Perth College Foundation
The Foundation was created in 2012 with the aim of building a culture of giving and to provide a vehicle through which financial support for the School is directed.
The long-term objectives are to support the:
- Long-term financial security of the School
- School’s ability to provide quality education for current and future students
- Building of first-class facilities and learning environment
- Expansion of the scholarship base

The Foundation Board
Karen Field, B Ec (UWA), FAICD, Chair and Independent Director
Karen has operated as a professional Non-Executive Director for 20 years on ASX-listed companies, government trading enterprises, private companies and not-for-profits. Before assuming Non-Executive Directorship roles, Karen had a long career in the resources industry and has a strong background in strategic planning, project management and human resources. She held executive roles in a variety of industry sectors throughout Australia and in South America, where she was President of Minera Alumbrera Ltd, a Buenos Aires-based company established by joint venture partners to develop and operate Argentina’s first large-scale copper/gold mining project in the north-west provinces. Karen is a West Australian who was educated at Perth College and The University of Western Australia and, following her retirement from an executive career, returned to live in Perth. Karen continues to be involved in community-based organisations, mainly by way of voluntary board participation.
Geoff Mather, Vice Chair
Geoff is Group Chief Financial Officer of the Royal Automobile Club of WA and its subsidiary entities. A Certified Practicing Accountant, he also holds a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investment and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a recipient of a WA Business News ‘40 under 40’ award and is a graduate of Leadership WA. Geoff has been a Director of Amana Living, the Anglican Church’s retirement and aged care agency, and a member of the Board of All Saints’ College. Geoff’s daughter graduated Perth College in 2019.
Alex Hurst, Council Representative
Alex is a Certified Financial Planner with more than 17 years’ experience in the industry, specialising in superannuation, investments and cashflow management. In addition to being a Director at WealthCo Advisory, Alex sits on the investment committee of Mont Partners. This role involves the review of asset allocations and investment holdings. Alex has worked in a range of financial institutions, including BT Funds Management, Westpac, MLC and NAB Financial Planning. He also holds a Diploma of Financial Advising from the Australian Securities Institute.
Andrew Harrison, Independent Director
Mr Harrison is an experienced CEO and Non-Executive Director of both publicly listed and proprietary companies, across a range of sectors including healthcare, resources, and the commercialisation of intellectual property including diagnostic imaging artificial intelligence. He has extensive experience in capital market transactions, including IPO activities, debt markets, both local and international mergers and acquisitions, strategic restructuring and turnaround, and the management of distributed branch network organisations. He has acted as an independent advisor to investment funds and has extensive experience in corporate governance and board committee leadership.
Angel Chen, Old Girls' Association Representative
Angel is a passionate Perth College Old Girl who is the Chief of Strategy at DrawHistory, a global social impact consultancy that works to amplify the impact of civic organisations in the world. Since co-founding DrawHistory in 2015, she has advised over 100 non-profit and social enterprises on strategy and operations. She is currently elected as Curator for the Perth Hub of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum. Angel has also served with the UN Women Australia’s National Committee for the past three years and firmly believes that if you empower a woman, you empower a nation. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Commerce (First Class Honours) from The University of Western Australia and has been recognised on the 2018 Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ Asia Honoree in Media, Marketing and Advertising.
Jane Scott, Council Representative
Jane Scott is a Perth College Old Girl. Prior to her retirement, Jane held the position of Professor of Public Health Nutrition Research at Curtin University. Jane trained as a nutritionist/dietitian at (then) WAIT and went on to complete a Master of Public Health and a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology at Curtin University. She has worked as a University academic for most of her career, first at Curtin University and then at the University of Glasgow and Flinders University in South Australia, before returning to a research position at Curtin University in 2013. Jane has served on a number of professional boards and committees and in 2013 was inducted as a Fellow of the Dietitians Association of Australia in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the profession.
Tracey Dembo, Independent Director
Tracey is a Perth College Old Girl with a Bachelor of Laws degree with First Class Honours from The University of Western Australia and Master of Laws degree from the University of of Melbourne. Tracey is a Senior Associate at King & Wood Mallesons and leads teams across multiple jurisdictions in high-value corporate and banking transactions. Tracey has previously served on KWM’s Pro Bono Committee, working closely with a range of charity and not-for-profit clients. As a director of Playgroup WA (Inc) for four and a half years, Tracey is also passionate about supporting and connecting families and building stronger communities.
Helen Aguiar, Principal
Helen joined Perth College in 2019 with a passion for educating young people and a desire to equip girls for life in the global world beyond school. Helen has a background in teaching and senior leadership positions in Anglican and Catholic schools in Western Australia and holds a Bachelor of Education (Secondary Teaching), having specialised in English and Humanities. She also has a Master of Education in Leadership and Management and a Master of Religious Education (specialising in pastoral care). Currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate, Helen’s research explores the wellbeing experiences of newly employed teachers, drawing upon Martin Seligman’s positive psychology framework.
Ross Gilchrist, Director of Finance and Commercial Services
Ross Gilchrist is the Director of Commercial Services and has been associated with the School as a parent, through his three daughters, since 2009. He has extensive experience within organisations in the services and industrial sectors covering Australia and Asia Pacific. Ross is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute, and holds a Masters in Accounting from The University of Western Australia.
Marketing and Community Relations Staff
Natalie Swannell, Alumni and Foundation Co-ordinator
Natalie is responsible for leading the School’s philanthropic programs and developing a culture of giving, along with maintaining connections with our Old Girls’ Association. She holds a double major in Advertising and Public Relations, and a post-graduate degree in Marketing. Natalie is currently on the Educate Plus WA Chapter committee and looks after its fundraising stream and communications.
