Learning doesn’t stop after the school bell

We give our Junior Primary School girls every opportunity to pursue their interests and experience the unbridled joy of participating in sport, music, the performing arts, outdoor education and other specialised extra curricular activities.

Our co-curricular program includes everything from Chess Club to playing AFL Football. Students can also participate in local, national and state competitions in STEaM, writing, art, music, drama, mathematics and problem-solving.

For an hour each Monday to Wednesday afternoon, experienced instructors and teachers run our After-School Clubs.

There are also year group camps to help develop character, confidence, teamwork and personal growth.

Performing Arts¶

As a high achieving performing arts school, we strongly believe that performing arts such as music, movement and creativity are integral parts of a child’s education.

All Perth College girls will learn an instrument from Year 2 at school, from woodwind to strings, and also find their voice through the choir. Each student will also participate in the annual Junior School musical, with girls in Year 6 able to audition for lead roles. We are home to ‘PC Dance’, a program hosted on Saturday mornings for girls and boys aged four to 20.

Sport¶

Perth College is part of JIGSSA (Junior Independent Girls’ Schools’ Sports Association), which caters for girls from Years 3 to 6 and promotes a combination of participation and competition, encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle in a fun and safe environment in Perth primary schools. JIGSSA carnivals include swimming, cross country and athletics, and the annual Winter Games Day allows girls to sample basketball, gymnastics, netball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, AFL, hockey and cricket. From Year 3, girls can join the Perth College Netball Academy.

Clubs¶

We offer a diverse range of clubs during and after school, allowing girls to delve deeper into their hobbies, passions and other extra curricular activities. Activities change each term and range from robotics to yoga, fitness and cooking, all led by teachers or experienced instructors, for no or minimal cost.

Making a difference to the lives of others

In the tradition of our founding Sisters, we place importance on service learning and social justice. Our girls learn about giving back to the community from a young age as part of our Perth private primary school.

Members of the Junior School Helping Hands Club meet each week to make a difference and regularly visit The Second Avenue Aged Care Facility in Mount Lawley, reading to the residents and performing for them. Our girls also provide assistance to the church and community events such as the annual Lifeline Luncheon, Anglicare winter and Christmas appeals, and the Hyde Park Fair.

Our Junior School holds free-dress days throughout the year to fundraise for various causes and many of the girls also organise activities to support causes close to their hearts.
