MUSIC TEACHER AND COORDINATOR OF BANDS (Full-time)
The Perth College Performing Arts team is a vibrant hub of creative energy within the School catering for the curriculum delivery of Music to girls from Kindy through to Year 12.
We are seeking a passionate and innovative teacher of Music and Coordinator of Bands with a proven ability to inspire students. Skills in using technology in the creative/artistic process as well as in curriculum delivery is required.
The successful candidate needs to be a TRBWA registered teacher and have demonstrated capability to teach Music in a K-12 education environment as well as have the ability to coordinate the Schools Band requirements.
Perth College is seeking candidates who value collaboration, team teaching and who have experience working in flexible learning environments.
The load comprises part-time classroom teaching mainly, but not necessarily exclusively, in the Senior School and the successful candidate will be able to teach components of the ATAR Music course. Another part of the load will be to direct seven bands ranging from the Year 3 Beginning Band through to the combined Perth College/Aquinas College Concert Band and including one of the College’s jazz bands.
Some of these bands are scheduled into the timetable and some rehearse before or after school. A small component of the loading may also include some instrumental teaching.
Singing and aural skills is at the core of our Music programme and the ability to direct choirs will be an advantage.
The position is initially offered as a one-year contract to be reviewed upon the appointment of the Head of Performing Arts. In 2020, the successful candidate will work towards achieving the vision of the School through the Performing Arts Department and report to the Acting Head of Performing Arts.
