(Part-time)

The Junior School French Language Specialist is responsible to the Head of Languages, and to the Director of Junior School, and will work for a maximum of 8 to 10 teaching hours per week. The ability to teach lower secondary French may be required. The hours will be according to the needs of the Languages Department and by necessity will vary.

This is a part-time ongoing role commencing in 2023.

The School runs a 5-day timetable and it is anticipated that the Junior School French Language Specialist will work the required hours with flexibility given to accommodate the 5-day timetable. Timetabling for languages in the Junior School necessitates the ability for this role to work around allocated lesson times given to specialist Senior School Chinese teachers who deliver the Junior School Chinese Language program.

As we continue to implement the WA Curriculum, the core of the role of the Junior School French Language Specialist is to teach and enhance the delivery of the Pre-Primary to Year 6 programs in an engaging and creative way, considering the different language needs of students at the different year group levels.

In addition to this, the Junior School French Language Specialist will liaise with all French teachers as well as other Language teachers to develop a range of activities to complement our language programs, which might include the following:

  • Flexible and innovative approach to Language teaching in the Junior School
  • Adaptable in a classroom of differing learning needs
  • Have relevant experience in Primary methodology
  • Develop and implement the WA curriculum
  • Contribute to and willing to incorporate technology in their teaching

The role will develop according to the experience, skills, and interests of the Junior School French Language Specialist, who is encouraged to share ideas, show initiative, and become fully involved in the Languages Department and the life at Perth College.
