100 years of history on stage

The story of Perth College and the Old Girls’ Association over the last 100 years was told through dance, drama and song during April in celebration of the OGA’s centenary.

Former Head of Drama (and 1960 Leaver), Anne Hairsine, and former teacher, Gabrielle Metcalf, wrote and directed a gala production held in the Judith Cottier Theatre, from 17 to 21 April, featuring 60 performers.

Several generations of Old Girls were represented in the cast, and all jumped at the chance to reunite with former classmates, reconnect with the School, and work with past and present staff.

The 90-minute performance also featured current Junior and Senior School students singing in their House choirs and the girls were given a great snapshot of the significant events that have shaped not only Perth College but also Mount Lawley and Western Australia over the last 100 years.

More than 1600 people enjoyed the show over the course of the production and delighted in sharing their memories and stories of Perth College and the OGA.

Interviews with Anne Hairsine and several of the cast members can be viewed here.
