Plans are in action at Perth College!

Posted: 14 May 2012

Being in week four of Term Two, and having re-entered the ‘swing’ of Perth College after two weeks of holidays, I have come to realise the School is very much like a construction site. There is always constant work and activity in the corridors of the School. For example, preparation for the production, The Pyjama Game in week nine is well underway, and IGSSA and Saturday Netball and Hockey commenced last week.  All rehearsals for musical orchestras, choirs and bands have been running for a few weeks now.

The building managers are always planning new extensions to the School such as the Student Representative Council, who are busy preparing for Positivity Week in Week five. Positivity Week has the aim of spreading happiness around the School and is particularly aimed at Year 11 and 12, as they prepare for their Semester One exams the following week. Last Friday night, the architects of Year 7 attended the Bush dance at Guildford Grammar, and the Year 10s have been structurally organising the site for their work experience for weeks nine and ten. On top of this, in weeks six and seven the building managers at the School, the teachers, will be setting the workers, the Year 11 and Year 12 girls the task of completing their first exams. A large number of ‘employee of the month’ awards have also been handed in the last few weeks at awards assemblies to girls who have played exemplary in sport, or achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Just like a construction site, everyone at Perth College has their roles to fulfil and this is why the school operates so well like a blueprint plan. There is always strong scaffolding to help you achieve the responsibilities you are set, at times there may be technical problems that we need to overcome, but like all construction projects, the finished project comes together in the end. Last minute material changes or quickly drafted new additions to the huge plan for the term are added to bring the Perth College project to new heights.
